In honor of the recent Mardi Gras holiday, we recreated a favorite trip from our very first trip to Disney World! In 2019, we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter. This resort is so lovely! It is small and easy to navigate, the wrought iron and colorful buildings are reminiscent of, of course, the French Quarter in Louisiana, and the Cajun-inspired food is wonderful! It is filled with jazz-themed decor and a boat ride away from Disney Spring. We really enjoyed our time here!

Port Orleans French Quarter's signature snack is the beignet: a pillowy fried dough treat topped with powdered sugar. And of course, they are shaped like Mickey! After making our dough, we used a Mickey-shaped cookie cutter to create the familiar mouse form. Next, into the fryer! Just a few minutes on each side brings these pastries to a perfect golden brown.
Once on a cooling rack, immediately dust with powdered sugar and serve warm! Don't forget to brew up a cup of Cafe du Monde coffee for a true New Orleans experience!

Recreating those Disney memories with Mickey Beignets sounds like such a treat! A perfect pairing would be a warm cup of decaf coffee to enjoy the flavors without the caffeine buzz.
